Peaceful Sleep
Read John 1:1 through 3:36
Rick had trouble going to sleep. For the last three weeks his worry had come to a new level. Rick tried television, reading, and music to help him sleep. Nothing worked. He couldn’t shake a feeling of heaviness.
Finally, Rick decided to read the verse of Scripture meant to bring peace to all people: John 3:16. He read it several times with the hope of bringing calmness to his worried mind. Then Rick paused and decided to read the next verse:
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him (John 3:17).
Just as Rick read John 3:17 he realized why he had been so worried. He felt condemned. Because of past mistakes and poor decisions, Rick could not find peace. But that night, reading the reminder from God’s Word, Rick said goodbye to condemnation. He said hello to the Savior who came to rescue him. Finally, Rick felt peace deep in his heart.
Prayer Suggestion: Jesus, thank You for salvation by faith in Your amazing work. Father, I receive Your forgiveness and Your peace.
